I took Muay Thai … I took Muay Thai from my friend, I say that technique is good so STFU. He looks off balance, but if he needed to, his foot is not planted so he could make a speedy exit if he needed it. You cant plant the foot completley or else you dont get good rotation. He drops his hand for momentum, its Muay Thai technique. So, since youre the fucking expert, correct me.

I just saw this guy … I just saw this guy fight at the Queen’s Birthday World Superfights in Thailand earlier this month. He obliterated his Thai opponent’s legs with leg kicks just like this in the first round and knocked him out with one punch in the second round. All you posers who think this sh*t doesn’t work, have some balls and step in the ring - in Thailand!

lol learn muay thai … lol learn muay thai b4 u try to correct it.he goes at a 45 degree angle 2 the oponent when he kick because it generates more power.the left arm protects th left side incase th opponent is riught kicking.the right arm swings for momentum as there is no need to protect the right side as the opponent can not reach with anythng because of the 45 degree step.

kyoukan, you might … kyoukan, you might not have been watching the video closely enough. He is guarding his face, a combination of his left hand and right shoulder work to cover up the majority of his face, specifically the chin. It’s just like if he threw a punch and guarded with his chin down and his shoulder and opposite hand blocking. The only difference is this in the form of a kick…
By no means is that kick perfect, but no attack is perfect in every aspect.

With regards to … With regards to blocking: If you eat this kick, whatever you are throwing isn’t going to matter. It is VERY difficult to make full and proper contact with a countering punch in this situation. If you do eat the kick (and it is performed properly) you will either hit the ground, or drop your guard trying to regain balance. Watch a little K1. This kick ends fights.

There’s a lot of styles of Muay Thai, esp. back in the States. But I’d rather learn from guys like him who actually put it to use in the ring.

muay boran is the … muay boran is the ancient style that monks train, its the one you see in OngBak and warrior king/the protector..
and i think using “style” is kinda wrong.. remember that Muay thai is not like Tae kwon do, karate and kung fu and the other asian arts, its more of a guide lines and teachings that people put to use in slightly diffrent way.. for exemple this kick is alot more jump in and more intenesity for higher power and less defense.

People complaining … People complaining about the “power” of the kick, nah the power is fine.
IMO, if i’m throwing a leg kick, i’m actually going to try for LESS power than he is using. I would have my supporting leg bent a little more, and it would be under my torso instead of in front of it. The way he has his foot positioned in front of his torso adds power, but takes away recovery time and range.
