    The guy he is fighting really isnt as skilled as the people he fights today. Although he was a division one wrestler…when he kicks it makes him completely vulnerable to take downs and his strong point is his striking so why fight on the ground when a majority of his wins are knocking his opponent out eh?

    The rule is to protect the fighters’ hands as if you punch something hard (like a human skull) with an unprotected fist there’s a very good chance you’ll shatter your hand. That’s why a lot of MA’s teach using palm-heels if striking the head. Hope that helps dude

    The open palm is for a grab opportunity and a reinforced punch or elbow can follow!

    It really just serves to unbalance-once(forward) for the strike; twice(back)-with the grab, turn/position… hammerfist sort of thing.
