UFC: Manny Gamburyan Ready for UFC 79
December 27, 2007
As some of you may remember, Manvel “Manny” Gamburyan, is the cousin of the highly respected Karo Parisyan. Manny was a fan favorite on the Ultimate fighter TV show and was favored to win the lightweight contact. He probably would have won no problem if an old injury didn’t act up in the middle of his fight on the series finale against Nate Diaz, younger brother of UFC veteran Nick Diaz. Nate went on to win the match after Gamburyan shoulder injury acted up, however there was no doubt in anyone’s mind that Manny would be a huge force to reckon with in the lightweight division when he recovers from his injury.
Well that day has come, UFC 79: Nemesis, taking place this Saturday December the 29th at the Mandalay Bay Events Center, Manny will be squaring off against Nate Mohr. Gamburyan feels a huge amount of stress to put on a good show for the crowd and come out on top, he says plainly “I can’t lose”
Nate Mohr was last seen on the UFC Fight Night: Sam Stout Vs Spencer Fisher, he won a unanimous decision against Luke Caudillo. His previous UFC fight was another Fight Night match this time against Kurt Pellegrino, where he lost from a submission. Taking out the likes of Manny Gamburyan would certainly put him on the map and establish him as a force to be reckoned with in the UFC as Manny is highly favored to win this one.
There is some worry however as Manny chose to forego surgery on his shoulder which was recommended by doctors. They claimed there was a half and half chance that rehab would not improve his injury enough for him to fight. Instead Manny chose to do rehab on his shoulder and work it back into shape. It could prove to be a mistake as the injury has a chance of reoccurring, Manny claims he is not worried and does not regret his decision.
Look for Mannys fight on the next Ultimate Fighting Championship Pay Per View this Saturday the 29th
